Videographer : Clinched!

Once upon a time, I thought the idea of having a videographer was slap-in-the-knee super lame, and I couldn’t grasp the concept. And that it was just something gimmicky that photographers incorporate into their package in hopes of sucking out more blood money from us, the unsuspecting grooms and brides-to-be.

Weren’t photos enough? Asal ngada2 nak kena video ni semua. I wasn’t interested and the thought of wasting a major portion of our money for it was off-putting. Though at that point of time, I had never watched a single wedding video. (But still had the balls to pass judgement). Mintak kena hiyak-dishh x 2!

And then, I did some serious, extensive CSI research on wedding videography, you know, to see what it’s all about. And man, did I ever cave. I CAVED damn you.

There was a special something in videos that photography just cannot capture. K bawak bertenang.

I trusted the BTBs of the wedding blogosphere world to have already listed out the finest videographers in the industry on their pages. Well well, you guys did not disappoint!

Of course, there was everyone’s top favourite:

Bliss Photo+Cinema

Here’s a highlight video from Bliss Photo+Cinema:

(Source: Bliss Photo+Cinema)

I mean  it’s alright…but it didn’t manage to blow me away or anything. Like I said, Bliss Photo+Cinema is totally in my good-to-go list for a pre-wedding shoot. But, other than that…I’d have to sleep on it.

Then there were talks about another contender:

Videosmith

Check them out:

(Source: Videosmith)

Nothing struck me with this one. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely video,  with a lovely looking couple. It just did. not. strike. a. chord. with. me.

There were a few other solid videographers around, but me and Z finally found one we both liked loved. We saw their videos and fell in love with them. Hard.

It was so chop-chop, no more thinking, no second-guesses, no what-if’s. I emailed them, set an appointment, went for the appointment a few days later, laid down a deposit and secured a slot. Whatintheworld. Madness.

I do get that some couples would rather go for several appointments with different companies before they come to a concrete decision. I’m the complete opposite. All my vendors were secured within the 1st appointment. We only met up with 1 company from each industry, that’s it. And this is also thanks to my tabiat pemalas

Ok enough talk.

The videographer we struck gold with is none other than:

Red Tape Projects

Here are my top 3 favorite highlight videos from them:

(Sources : Red Tape Projects)

I love the way how each videos starts off. Though I do realise that these are just highlights, I thought they were splendidly done.

PAUSE KEJAP PLEASE. I feel the need to unnecessarily share my comments on each vid.

Haikal + Adlina: I found the entire video to be ridiculously cool lah kan. And the couples’ outfit (2:52), is nothing short of unique, the entire get-up (ala2 P. Ramlee) definitely deserves a mention. It was so ol’ skool, right down to the dais. The wedding was held at Jalan Ampas; Wheeler’s Yard.

Azri + Quraisha: This video, I find, is super adorable. The couple in it is a mixture of all sorts of cute. I can tell both groom & bride exude spontaneity.

Fathi + Dira: Can I just take a second to tell you how gorgeous the bride’s white wedding gown is? And also just how diabetic-ally sweet this video is?

And these were the videos that had mine & Z’s hearts set on Red Tape. (Btw, Red Tape sound so XXX. Haha. Sigh…me and names.)

We met up with the husband-wife duo team, Nurul and Ayim. Oh god, I hope I got their names right.

We went to their home office located at Chestnut Avenue, but before that, we just had to get lost. It has become a tradition really, me & Z, losing our way before any important appointments. There were a whole bloody series of Chestnut roads eh. Chestnut Drive, Chestnut Crescent, Chestnut Lane, Chestnut Bapakkau.

We took a taxi but ended up having to walk for a good half an hour after. And all these while kena an earful by Z for giving Uncle Taxi the wrong direction. (lol. which I did.) Excuse my wedding brain, tengah excited what!

So apparently, their home office is this new, jaw-dropping gorgeous condominium. Smacked right in the middle of nowhere. When we finally arrived at Chestnut Avenue, me and Z were like ,” Waaait…This can’t be it.”  WELL IT IS IT.

By the time we were at their front door, we were sweating buckets. Makeup dah cair, rambut dah ronyok. Pandang sekali mesti hilang selera. SO. EMBARRASSING.

Ayim heartily greeted us and so we entered their stunning home. I can say, hands down, without a doubt, they are by far the friendliest, most down-to-earth people to ever exist. They made us feel welcomed and I found them to be so easy and pleasant to talk to.

10314620_834121543283189_6387569978879365553_n

(That’s Ayim in black, far right wearing a cap & Nurul, obviously the rose amongst the thorns)

They weren’t hoity-toity like one would expect from most condo-occupants. Ayim looks like the kind of guy who has no problem lepak-ing with members kat kedai kopi sampai pagi and Nurul is the kind who would listen to you in fascination and be like, ” OMG ya! ya! Me tooo!!

They didn’t make the appointment seem like an appointment at all. It was still raya at that point of time, so they were like “Eh jempot lah makan, asal taknak makan, sedap tau tapak kuda”. (memang sedap, aku actually da makan banyak, orang je tak nampak).

Red Tape Projects offers photography (see below) as well but we were more attracted to their video packages, since I feel that it is their area of expertise. So they showed us videos after videos, explained their packages, and one of the things I appreciated was how flexible they were with the deposit. They didn’t care to fix a certain amount. ** well there was a fixed deposit stated on their printed package, but they were pretty alright with not receiving the full deposit during the appointment **

I can only wish that more vendors would follow suit. Planning a wedding is no piece of cake. The best companies get snagged within a moment’s notice and if you don’t put a certain amount of deposit, then you can kiss your dream wedding goodbye. It’s so overwhelming to come up with deposits after deposits, and by the hundreds too, just so your date’s secured. There are times that I wished I shat out cash. Really.

A few photos by Red Tape Projects:

So anyways, we’ve got our Videographer, and I for one, am super pleased with our decision.  *throws confetti*

KTHXBYE,

Bunny ❤

Décor: The Gorgeous Jentayu

First, let us all marvel at the wonder that is, Jentayu.

206498_205626192793462_2111638_n 459622_417017591654320_566344176_o 542656_481302455225833_1884683595_n 556217_417014734987939_1602037726_n 10505125_770557046300371_3321600633042300959_o

(Source: Jentayu Gallery)

OK, moment over.

I knew Jentayu, errr’body knows Jentayu, those that are NOT getting married knows Jentayu.  I fell head over heels when me & Z went to THE main wedding exhibition in Expo (I can’t remember the name of said event). Whatever, I go every year with no purpose, lol, well except…the food.

Z never fails to tremble with fear every time I drag him down and dive head first to any pameran pengantin. Trick: Must do a pathetic face, only then he relents.

thumb

From the start, Jentayu has been pujaan hati ku. How do they manage to make the next decor vendor look like a drab all the time is beyond me.

Right off the bat, Jentayu wasn’t my first option, since me guts tells me it’s going to be expensive. Fact is, I didn’t think I wanted a decor company at all, seeing that Gurame provides decor and dias.

But basic.

Very basic.

SO BASIC IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY:

20140312_142309

(Source: Wedding Jitters)

Being ever so coy, so cunning and so clever, I managed to talk Z into engaging an external decor company. Keith, the Manager of Gurame informed that we can definitely do-away with their decorations and they can offset the price to something else. Nak top up makan ke….nak pay for cleaning services ke…suka hati ikut cita rasa masing-masing. I, for one, was pleased by how flexible Keith was with their wedding packages. Even allowing us to have an extra hour for Nikah! I forgot to mention Keith I know. You guys would like him. He’s a friendly dude, easy to talk to, very down-to-earth.

HOLD UP, GOSSIP TIME!

We were told that Fatimah Mohsin is totally banned from Gurame……like forever! Because apparently FM does not know how to follow rules. Like jangan ketok2 paku on their property…tapi KETOK JUGAK. Ok lah maybe not banned  forever, I don’treally  know for how long. Keith mentioned it as being a taboo or something. I don’t know if he’s just avoiding from getting his property damaged or if…or if….*** woooo~~wooo~~I mean, Gurame is, after all, located just by the sea.

***woooo~~wooo~~ is a sound made by a ghost. In my head.

Anyway! The first decor company I find myself wanting was Mariah & Shah. Tell me you don’t want them. I dare you.

(Source: Mariah & Sham)

Oh and they did one at Gurame as well:

998790_10152315821986708_2786518732465417420_n

10258026_10152315822006708_2681398642805661368_n 10264908_10152315821776708_4193553690966184757_n(Sources: Mariah & Sham)

My heart skipped a beat, you know in a good way. I knew I had to have them. It was exactly what I wanted. The dais, ahhh..so clean, so simple, not too heavily decorated. I mean would you cover up a sea-view pelamin?? Mad love for M & S. (Lol, nasib baik bukan S&M! haha.)

So I emailed them immediately, and I think they only managed to reply EONS later after which they never replied again. MATI KERING.

BINGIT GILA.

So that’s that. It doesn’t bloody matter if you’re the cream of the crop, if you don’t think replying e-mails is worth doing, then I’ll take my money somewhere else, really. I don’t get vendors who just don’t give a shit. At least have the decency to set an auto reply to inform your potential clients that you’ll be away or something.  NI TAKDE. No work ethics, none at all. Ape lagi, skip ah jack!

Next contestant, DaunDco & Wedding. Who I have to admit, does a damn impressive void-deck job. You can hardly tell that it’s a void deck, I kid you not!

294237_278160555540415_906834717_n 557459_455280294495106_914655343_n 10151013_717665508256582_1898030297_n 10330250_744861288870337_64675045464196030_n 10418966_879788815372237_8191051656446571640_n 10501821_879788898705562_8450147656279195576_n

(Source: DaunDco & Wedding)

HOMAHGAAAWD! HOMAHGAAAWD! HOMAHGAAAWD! It’s super pretty, and man, the colors they incorporate into each wedding decor, urgh! Right there, you can recognize effort when you see it. Wanted but, I don’t know. I would have signed their papers in a heartbeat if I were to have a void-deck wedding, no questions asked.  But I kinda felt like I had to look for a decor company who has had a hand at the location that me & Z are getting married at.

So that led us back to…Jentayu again.

We met up with Joji, put down a deposit and done! I was happy with my choice, wasn’t ecstatic, but happy. AND THEN I GOT HAPPIER.

A few weeks later, Jentayu posted several photos of a job they did at Gurame. Jempot lah tengok:

photo 1 photo 2 (1) photo 2 photo 4

(Source: Jentayu Gallery)

Oh did I mention the brooding troll that lives under a bridge, who was with me at the appointment with Jentayu? Yup, he was just sitting there, so deadly quiet, just…brooding. Joji even asked why was he so quiet. * throws hands in exasperation*

And then when we got out of there, he was like, “I gave my opinion what”. NO EH, a 2-word answer is NOT an opinion.

But then member pacified me by bringing me to Changi to eat satay. LOL. I am so disturbingly easy to please.

CYMERA_20140904_111451[1]CYMERA_20140904_111536[1]

Aku nak pelamin kelihatan suci tak boleh ke! xD

So there’s that. Settle to the kettle. Could not be happier with our choice of décor company!!

Truth be told, I have never ever ever heard of Kahwin Kawin Bridal. A friend recommended KKB to me and I couldn’t get my mind off the abbreviation. KKB sounds like it could an abbrev.of a very vulgar word.

The name Kahwin Kawin Bridal sounded like a company my mum would engage when she got married. Like all the sanggul-sanggul and the kebaya indon, pipi  layered with blusher color sepink-pink tidak and what not.

However I’ve know this friend for quite a while and she has fab taste. Infact, she has the exact same taste as me (kirakan aku fab ah ni? let’s just agree to disagree thanks! ) so I know I can trust her recommendations. Right? And right she was!

Here, have a look-see! :

(P.S. Proceed with caution, I’m about to overwhelm you with  photos more than your mind can handle).

 SUCH WOW. MUCH PRO.

I did a thorough research on the company before I e-mailed them to set an appointment. Of course, there were fab reviews and the not-so-fab. Meh, I’m sure every company has had their share of bad reviews kan? So far, from what I’ve managed to gather, KKB is pretty alright. Never came across a read where a bride is left stranded in rags from this company. I guess we can all take that as a good sign.

(Going into story mode ni ha.) Speaking of which, I have a best friend who got hitched, like, 2 years ago. Oh boy, did she hate her wedding. Her outfits weren’t the ones she picked out and her fitting was scheduled 3 days before her wedding date.

WHAT IN THE MOTHER OF BAD DECISIONS WERE THE BRIDAL COMPANY THINKING SIAK? I guess they weren’t  even thinking at all.

Side track sikit, she only got her wedding album 1 year after her wedding. 1 year eh kawan-kawan, 1 whole year. (Fyi, she booked one of those Bridal companies who sources out external vendors for outfit, photography, makeup, gedebak gedebuk). Therefore, it was so, so difficult to have everything synchronized.

K back to KKB.  Their makeup is a go for me, and trust me, you, I can be pretty anal about my eyebrows. Especially my eyebrows.  I almost wanted to draw on my own brows on my Engagement day if I had it my way. But gua maintain, tangan menggigil jer tahan taknak tepis tangan mak andam. I have major brows trust issues. MAJOR.

Anyway here are some of KKB’s beautiful works:

10466894_903694606314447_1355794585_n 10003454_494748420631589_1826733064841725916_n 10170987_504534512986313_1051751268758613361_n

(Sources: Kahwin Kawin Bridal)

I particularly lovex3 the makeup they did on the 1st and last bride. That’s exactly how my brows should look until the end of time.  Thin brows are out ladies. Thicker, fuller brows are the defo’ the way to go. It makes the face look less wide, makes you look youthful.

(By the way, one of the brides above happens to be an ex-school mate of mine, I just attended her wedding and she looked UH-MAZING!)

And, and, and KKB is offering packages that include Actual Day photography as well as Post/Pre Wedding Shoot. You can have both, or either, or neither.  Your pick really.

Me and Z opted for their package that comes with Bridal Outfits + Actual Day Photography. We were looking at their pre-wed shots and they weren’t as strong as the others we came across in Facebook. Yes, Facebook is a great way to source out inexpensive photographers,  trust me. Long gone are the days where you pose on bridges whilst lifelessly, and awkwardly,  look into your partner’s eyes and pay thousands to have that hung on your wall.  Cringe-fest.

Here’s what KKB’s Actual Day photography look like:

img_1473 img_1491 img_1726 img_1728 img_8109

img_8443

img_8497

(Sources: kahwinkawinbridal.com)

May I just clarify that I am by no means a stalker. The reason why I’m posting photos of the same couple, is because, it’s KKB’s latest. Photography is a learning process. The more years you put into it, the better you’ll get. Ditto.

And from my observation, they have gotten better if you compare these photos to the ones they took years back.

I’ve always thought that I’d get a photographer who mega-filters their photos. I’m sure you know what’s trending these days, so you kinda get the gist of what I mean. Some people prefer them ol skool’, some prefer photos with an air of  whimsicality.

I thought to myself amd asked if I really wanted something like that on my wedding day. And I surprised myself with a resounding no. I wanted something clean and soft and most of all, clear and un-tainted by effects. I want each and every detail of my wedding to be seen since there will be, a thousand and one things going on.

But oh…my pre-wed shoot…my pre-wed shoot will be the complete opposite I promise. Macam lepaskan segala kegeraman pasal tak dapat main filter for AD gitu.

Me and Z had sourced out other photographers and we fell in love with Bliss Photocinema. I’d say Bliss’s forte is AD photography without a doubt, but we opted for KKB’s instead. The reason is because it’s cheap lah kan. Hello 3 Bridal Outfits + Actual Day photography for approx. $3,100. A damn good deal I say! Also saves us the hassle of having to keep track of so many companies. Less vendors, less issues.

So anyway, me and Z set up an appointment to meet Ira, who owes the company.  She does everythaaang guurrl. Makeup, photography, editing of photos, designing outfits. You name it, she does them all. I mean, I can’t even make the bloody effort  to wake up 10 minutes early to go to work!

I thought Ira was really friendly, but not in a way that might put you off. It was obvious that she remained professional despite the constant grilling from my boyfriend. You see, my boyfriend and I, we’re completely the same but exact opposites. Yes, it sounds ridiculous and I agree that it is. Both of us are what you describe; the epitome of ‘kepala batu’, so much in fact, we’re capable of putting a literal batu to shame. We don’t bicker, nor do we squabble, we downright FIGHT.

He finds Ira talked abit too much for his liking, but I found it completely tolerable. I clearly remembered when she was going on about other brides and Z cut her short, ” OK. Let’s just get to the point ah. So how much is this going to cost us”. I was literally kicking him under the table. SO. RUDE.

angry-must-resist-l

Excuse me, we’re paying so much money, I’d like to get as many information about her services, relevant or otherwise, thank you very much.

And this was after me, warning him to behave before we even entered the studio.

Hais, his out-rightness and  lack of sensitivity disturbs my fragile senses.

So, ANYWAY, we put in a deposit right there and then, signed signed signed…and done! Phew. Dah takya nak huru hara pening cari bridal terhandal lagi.

Okay, done for the day, time to watch Game of Thrones.

KTHXBYE,

Bunny ❤
